Arrived after midnight in Providence, and found this joint that's open until 2 AM!
I was worried (not gonna lie) but pleasantly surprised. The place wasn't the cleanest, or newest, and I'd almost use the "dive" label here.
Those wieners? Well, those wieners are LEGIT! The chili, mustard, and celery salt are a perfect addition. I had two, which was plenty, but my mouth is watering as I type this.
Hubbs had the tuna melt, but it wasn't quite melty enough for him. But, hey, that's not why you go there.
Another RI staple we had to try was COFFEE milk! It. Is. So. Good!
While all of that was awesome, the best part of the night was the company. The employees are friendly, fun, and they made the meal.
Such a cool place. If you like dives, you'll love it! Promise : ) -

I was let down by my expectations of Olneynville New York System. I wanted to like this place, and I feel bad giving it a bad score because the staff was friendly but guys this place is not good. The food is not good, it seems to be in a very bad area with tons of police lights flashing and stopping people in the neighborhood, and it's rather expensive for poor tasting food.
The good news is that if you're alone they have plenty of fruit flies which will eat with you and keep you company. I have to take off a star just for the fruit flies because they made me uncomfortable. The location is definitely a dive and I got the impression that most people get their orders to go. While I was there a couple came in who looked to be on a date, the girl did NOT look happy. An employee even commented on it when they left saying, "she was probably expecting to go some place nice and gets taken here."
The Wieners to my surprise did not have any snap and there was no discernible flavoring besides that of meat. The sauce tasted like regular ground beef and had been in a hot soup well to long and the fat separated from the meat. The mustard got lost in the flavors as well. I expected some celery salt but I wieners were covered in way too much celery salt. The overwhelming flavor here is the celery salt and you can't taste much else. The chili cheese fries were just ok. They tasted like regular chili cheese fries you'd find in any dinner. The coffee milk was pretty good and I had two glasses.
Not sure if I went on a bad day but I was let down by this place for sure. To sum it up there were more fruit flies than customers, the wieners were 90% celery salt, and the chili cheese fries were just ok. If you want to visit this location the staff will be very kind and it is a neat place but lower your expectations because there is alot of hype online. -

So if you've unloaded your piston
And your exes just called but you missed 'em
The food isn't light
But when it's late at night
There's nothing like the New York System
Many songs were written about this diner. If other diners don't get songs written about them, fear not... Olneywill.
For example: Olney Happy When It Rains (Garbage), Olney The Lonely (Roy Orbison), Olney When I Sleep (The Corrs), But Olney In Dreams (Fox Elipsus), and even Duran Duran's "Olney In Your Nightmare."
And don't forget "Olney You", "I Olney Have Eyes For You", Sheena's "For Your Eyes Olney", Billy Joel's "Olney The Good Die Young", "The Olney Living Boy In New York" by S&G, "I'm Olney Sleeping" by The Bee Attles, "The One And Olney" by Chesney Hawkes written by Nik Kershaw, to name but a few.
There's even a TV show about this diner (Olney Fools And Horses).
The New York System places in Providence are plentiful, and there's such famously greasy and yummy little local diners that make sloppy hot dogs and tasty little burgers - and most importantly, they do them extremely well I have to say.
So the Burgers and Dogs are delicious here and service is no nonsense and friendly. Literally, if you try nonsense in here you'll get evicted from your dindins. Just kidding, they're jokers and they're fun as hell.
I definitely have to give it five stars considering the great service and nice greasy taste - but most of all the fact that they are open very late on a rainy night in Providence, which was exactly what I needed, and thank you too Yael for telling me to try these diners up here in the Provide-density.
So if you're wallowing in Lonelyville
And you're getting real skinny and Boneyville
Then head up to Rhode Isle
And stop for a while
And get burgers and dogs here at Olneyville! -

When searching for a place to eat in Rhode Island, Olneyville kept coming up. Wasn't really sure why, but didn't want to eat a "New York Style" hot dog in Rhode Island. Something told me to give it a try. And whatever that something was I need to thank it, because these hot dogs were absolutely phenomenal. They were definitely not New York Style.
The guys working there were also great and very welcoming. We sat down and quickly got our order taken and within seconds received our hotdogs. We also ordered coffee milk was tasty as well. These hotdogs reminded of the Coney Island hot dogs served at Lafayette & American in Detroit, yet still very different. The hot dog consist of just the wiener, covered with mustard, ground beef sauce onions and celery salt. The wiener has a nice snap, and all the ingredients just complimented each other perfectly. And then with a sip of their coffee milk. Damn. Felt like I was in heaven. I'll definitely be returning next time I make it out there! -
